Collaborations with Schools, Musical Theatre Organizations and Educational Programs

Sing Your Song (SYS) also offers financial assistance to local schools and musical theatre organizations to assist with the costs involved in launching a workshop, class, musical theatre production or other theatre educational program. 

To be considered for funding from SYS, a school or musical theatre group completes an application (including a financial profile) and interviews with a panel of SYS board members. SYS will then assess the applicant’s needs and determine the appropriate funding.

Some of the organizations that Sing Your Song is currently supporting, or has supported in the past, include:

★ SYS has sponsored, or will continue to sponsor, numerous performances of youth educational tours for various theatre companies. Hundreds of students have benefited from seeing these live performances performed at their schools. Some of these programs include:

  • La Jolla Playhouse POP Tour
  • Idaho Shakespeare Festival Educational Tour
  • Shakespeare & Company Educational Tour
  • Lamb’s Players Theatre Education Program

★ SYS recently collaborated with a local youth theatre educational program. We underwrote workshops and youth classes as part of a collaboration effort to encourage students to participate in the arts.

★ SYS sponsored 150 students to attend a Shakespeare play in collaboration with the Shakespearience Educational Program.

★ SYS collaborated with Breakthrough Workshop Theatre on their production of Songs for a New World.

★ SYS collaborated with the Theatre School @ North Coast Repertory Theatre on two productions- Les Miserables and A Tale of Two Cities.

★SYS collaborated with the BlueRose Theatre Project, a local youth musical theatre organization, to help underwrite three of their productions- The Wizard of Oz, Les Miserables, and Beauty and the Beast. SYS also collaborated with BlueRose, in various capacities, on their productions of Annie and Matilda.

★ SYS collaborated with Kate Sessions Elementary School and underwrote a portion of their production of The Wizard of Oz.

★ SYS underwrote the production of Seussical, the Musical, at Saint Michael’s School in Poway, with 40 students participating as cast and crew.
